viva9.jpg

Eurogamer’s posted the its proper Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise review, and it’s an 8/10.

The game’s out today. Mike’s going all gooey-eyed over it as we type, so we’ll have a review for you next week.

If you’ve got a score you want listing, just drop it in the comments and we’ll update this story.

You mean other than the ton of reviews we discussed in the other VP news item?

Take more cocaine… or less? Either way, modify your cocaine intake.

It’s the heroin habit that’s clouding things a little.

Looks like you picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

I had a sofa delivered today, PT. Can you believe that? A sofa delivered, my wife’s driving test, a fucking silly amount of news, a drive to Brighton, a train to London, an interview with Big Pete, God knows how much writing tonight, some random man off eBay coming to my house to pick up my old sofas and a weekend of frantic writing and DIY. I should be putting crack in my eyes, or something.

Ha… that interview will be classic. PM is crazy by default and it sounds like you’ll be joining him for the ride. :D

Game have put a bunch of cards up on their website. Supposedly for the ones that pre-ordered the game with them, but accessible to all:

These cards are my biggest gripe with the game so far, tbh. I got one off the website the other day that a random user uploaded and it gave me an achievement for developing a species. However, I didn’t. I just put my camera near a PC screen. The whole fun with Viva is finding stuff out for yourself or a the very least reading on the internet how to do it and then jumping through all the hoops yourself. This way though actually takes a great deal of fun out of the game, imo.

Really? Can I not just not use them? Cheers, I thought I had to.

Stands to reason really. I don’t even own a camera (though I might pick one up if I see one cheap).

I guess it’s a lot like avoiding cheats you have access to.

Yeah, but they’re not advertised as cheats. I has no idea that I could simply get every animal in my garden, unlock every relevant achievement, just by holding my camera up to the screen.

Bit weak, imo. Not really “achieving” anything.

Rare gave me a pack of cards, which unlock a load of the new pinata. I managed to resist using any of them after an initial frenzy. Hasn’t broken the game for me really.
