Yoshida: LittleBigPlanet “defies cultural differences”

littlebigplanet14.jpg

Speaking to GI at Games Convention, Sony development boss Shuhei Yoshida has complimented a previous comment that LittleBigPlanet will be the biggest Sony game this year by saying it’ll straddle cultures. There’s nothing it can’t do.

“LittleBigPlanet is unique in the sense that it defies cultural differences, and will hopefully be accepted in Asia as well as Europe and the US,” he said.

There’s a full interview here. Game’s out in October.

Possible since the culture will be defined by the creator.

But I wouldn’t be so sure it will be a major success.

Psychotext told me some things that can’t be unsaid, and now if LittleBigPlanet isn’t magically ported to Wii everything will fail.

Seriously though this guy is cool, and I hope that LBP turns out to be somewhat of a smale scale phenomenon at least.

What did Psychotext say? Why does this need a Wii? I don’t think it could be done on the Wii – at least not with the same charm and character. It would end up having Nintendo IP shoe-horned in.

If they were to strike at the right time, SOE supporting PS3 as well as PC, could be a master touch, and lead to an MMO console explosion – in terms of, yes, their home team’s console but also the MMO “scene” for consoles as an ongoing proposition, as well!

I think the fact that every player would be using the same hardware to play, will help make that a compelling pull, and ought to be successful, if the business model’s right.

I kid. Psychotext essentially said HD consoles aren’t selling well this generation. (in Japan atleast)

To be totally honest I just think the Wii is selling amazingly well.

It’ll sell fine. I just think people need to be realistic.

This isn’t the next Gears, GT, Zelda, Halo, FF etc.

Yer I never said that. And I totally agree.

People on NeoGAF are crazy for that.

Although if they advertise it will thigns could change. I maintain that with the mammoth advertisisng Halo 3 had, is what amde it sell so well.

GTAIII didn’t have oen TV advert as far as I remember. Gran Turismo always has understated ones. Never seen an FF advert either.
