Vivendi UK winds down, Activision claims few were fired

Speaking to MCV, Activision Blizzard UK managing director Andrew Brown has claimed that the majority of staffers made redundant from Vivendi UK did so voluntarily.

“The reality is that practically everybody made redundant chose that option,” he said. “It certainly wasn’t that we said ‘OK, let’s cut the workforce’ – it didn’t work like that at all.

“We offered people a lot more jobs than were taken in the end. And we’ve tried to make sure everybody who did come across felt that it was a positive move. I think a lot of people made the active choice to join the business rather than feeling they were in a corner.”

Vivendi UK’s Marlow office is now being wound down to the point of closure, with Acitvision Blizzard’s main base becoming the existing Uxbridge centre.

Few were fired because most were killed and fed to the bandicoots.

Just trying to get another line on this now. All a bit sad, really.

so, just to be clear, no Activision staff have lost their jobs in this “merger”?
Sounds more like a takeover to me.
