Of course, that’s only the announced games list. There might be more stuff there that we don’t know about yet because it’s due to be unveiled at the show itself.
Anyway, PC smashes all.

WTF!? PC? I never use WTF but this warrants it!
PS3 = 12
360 = 14
Shock Horror.
Well Sony isn’t on the list, it includes XBLA titles and there’s still unannounced crap. Yakuza 3? Didn’t that already come out?

“PC smashes all.”
I think not. Where can I get myself an “Others” system and any ideas on how to convince the wife it’s a good idea?

What’s that got to do with the price of eggs?

There are quite a few PS2 titles.
No offence Sony but the sooner they toss that piece of trash out and get backwards compatibility the better. I have B/C, but tons don’t.

Here’s a nice story, then:
Team Ninja to unveil three new action games at TGS. So that’s Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma, and Ninja Gaiden 3. Or something with tits in it.

I swear there was lots of hintings at a fighter pilot game.
Anyway, having played Sigma, after the Ninja Blade situation to justify (or not) Ninja Gaiden. I hope it’s not more Ninja Gaiden. Wall running is fun though.

None of the next generation consoles are particular popular in Japan besides the Wii; the PS3 and Xbox 360 are selling abysmally over there. It makes sense that Japanese developers aren’t going to make a lot of titles for formats that aren’t popular in their home region.

Well for their price they are sellign incredibly well. A PS2 on a good month would do 200,000 per month, lots of people forget that.

Price has got very little to do with it No_PUD. The PS3 costs the same over there that the PS2 did at launch. It’s selling badly because hardly anyone wants it… same as the 360.

Well I think that that’s only been tried and tested with 360 price drops. The PS3 hasn’t dropped yet.
And I can’t wait to see the impact the 360 price drop has. I think it will be quite a lot, just to prove price does matter.

The PS3 price has dropped a couple of times in Japan No_PUD. They’ve also tried the tactic of releasing a bunch of different colour versions.

Yes, and it’s becuase firstly it was insanely inafdfordable to launch. It dropped to an inaffordable price. And now they’re just trying to add value rather than drop price.
I won’t accept that neither HD console is selling well there. Maybe 360, but that isn’t recognised as consoel over there.
It’s quite similar in Europe despite price cuts. Apart from the UK.
And to be honest the 360 is doing superbly this generation in comparison to last.

I don’t get what you’re trying to say. The simple fact is that right now, as of this minute the PS3 is 37,581 yen on Amazon in Japan. The PS2 launched at 39,800 yen. The PS2 averaged 50k a week at that price point. The PS3 averages 10k a week.
Like it or not, the HD consoles aren’t selling.

That was around the release of it, when sales are higher, then as soon as they started to drop, so did the price. The PS2 had already had 2 subsatntial price cuts by now (2 years in).
This generation Sony don’t have the option to manufacture demand.
And the 360 is doing massively well, and I hope the price drop makes an effect, otherwise I’m gonna be pretty scared. For both consoles.
I certainly hope you’re not right. More than anything.

Actually… that’s not from the release, those figures are from a year or so after that. The first year of the PS2 in Japan was a story of stock shortages. You couldn’t get them for love nor money.
But anyway… time will tell. I should warn your optimism that PS3 sales are currently trending downwards though and who knows when they’ll cut the price again.

Damn…
Well, I will stay optimstic.
I think that the current sales are coming off a high from a popualr exclsuive, for the PS3. I guess this generations GTAIII has been Wii Sports. But it’s just weird, becuase I can’t imagine GTA players like Wii Sports.
Wait till everyone finds that ‘it’ game.
It won’t be LittleBigPlanet, too casual. It will be an 18 game.
But hopefully then the HD consoles will a have resurgence.
To be honest it is just early days. I know 5 people who still want to get a PS3 sepcifically, and just can’t afford it.

I am a mess.
Wii just ruined gaming when you speak to me Psychotext, go away.
Heh.
Do you honestly believe that the Wii is competing int he same market as the 360 and PS3?

Walk into your local game shop and take a look how much space they’ve dedicated to the Wii vs the PS3 / 360.
It’s competing.

By that logic the PS2 wins followed by the 360, Wii, PS3, Gameboy Color and last is the PSP, at my local indie.

I think your local indie needs to get with the times on the PS2… unless he’s mostly selling used of course.

The problem is only that HD consoles cost so much to develop for.
But there will ALWAYS be a market for hardcore, it’s not like they will cut that out.
Scary times, I am staying optimistic. And waiting for a Team ICO announcement.

14 unannounced games from Sony at TGS (http://kotaku.com/5056721/sony-will-have-14-unannounced-titles-playable-at-tgs) looks like they’re finally going to sort our their games line up for Japan.
