Speaking to VG247 today, Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter has said a further European Xbox 360 price cut this year isn’t the stupidest idea in the world.
“I can’t imagine why they would penalize you folks,” he said, when asked if he thought the console’s price would come down in Europe given the announced cut in Japan this week and the near-certain drop in the States next week.
Microsoft is to cut as much as 30 percent from Xbox 360’s retail cost in Japan, and it would appear Americans are to imminently enjoy a drop of as much as $80.
There’s been no indication from retail as yet on the subject of a European drop, but one senior UK source did just tell us that it is “highly likely” we’ll see another cut this year.
Don’t say we didn’t warn you, anyway.

Why wouldn’t they? Europe is still ‘the leper colony’ as far as the world gaming industry are concerned.
We SHOULD be punished.

It’s going to happen. Feeling, water, etc.

Because we already had it? When was the last time you could buy electronics hardware in Europe at the proper currency conversion rate?
US/UK for example
Wii: $249, £179 (£139 by conversion rate)
PS3 80gb: $399, £299 (£224 by conversion)
360 Arcade: £159, $279 (£156 by conversion)
Which one looks out of place there?
Now do the new US price of $199 for the 360 Arcade and we get £112 by conversion. Doesn’t that look like about the usual way we get screwed over here?

Another £20 off all models before Christmas. Maybe more off the Elite. Betcha.

And peripheral price cuts too.

PS3 price drop would be nice…. One day.
I actually think the PS3 will be scrapped before there is a damn rpice cut.
I hope this action makes them cut.

PS3’s not going to drop. Definitely not.

I know.
So futile.
It will be the end of the generation before it drops in price.
Blerk said:
They’ll probably put the PS3 price up again.

I can see the new PR right now:
“You’ll buy it, even if you need three jobs to afford it”
