Xbox 360 price cut by 30% in Japan

The Nikkei’s reporting that Microsoft is to drop the price of Xbox 360 in Japan, the cost of an Arcade model dropping 8,000 yen ($73.92) to 19,800 yen.

The new price will make the SKU significantly cheaper than Wii, which sells for about 25,000 yen, and PS3, which sells for 39,800 yen.

Microsoft will also reduce the price of two higher models with hard drives by 5,000 – 8,000 yen, the paper said.

There’s an Xbox press conference ongoing in Japan as we type: Kotaku’s live-blogging it.

The 20gb model’s being replaced by the 60gb one too, as well as being reduced in price.
