PSP-3000 battery life reduced by up to 30 minutes

SCEA’s John Koller has confirmed that PSP-3000′s brighter screen means less battery life. Whoops.

“Battery life will decrease by a small amount, it’s about 20 minutes maybe 30 minutes and that’s because there’s a larger power draw with the brighter screen,” he said in the Gamespot interview you can see after the link.

The new PSP model launches on October 15.

LOL. This is bad. Couldn’t they add a more powerful battery pack. Its not like the PSP battery lasts that long anyway, and now even less.

…so turn the screen brightness down with, you know, the screen brightness button?

What would be the point of the new model if you did that? Inbuilt microphone? Yay.

I rarely use the highest brightness on my psp anyway, but actually being able to use the psp outside in the sun will be nice, albeit for 10 minutes or something. :D

Personally I’d rather the 30 mins cut for the newer screen over the old one it was never that great in the first place.
