Trouble in Paradise team to “take a break” from Viva Piñata “to make something new”
Speaking in this fansite interview on MundoRare, Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise lead designer Justin Cook has confirmed that there’s no plans for any Viva 2 DLC at the moment, and that the team itself will be moving off onto something completely non-Viva related after the game ships.
“We don’t have any plans for DLC,” he said.
“As far as the team is concerned we are taking a break from VP for a while to make something new. But things change quickly in the software industry so next week it may be a completely different story.”
Hot shit. No Viva 3? The game’s out next Friday. That’s next Friday. Buy the fucking thing. Make the magic happen.

Can’t believe how little marketing there has been for this. I’m into VP and I’d completely forgotten it was coming out.
/sarcastic applause for MS

It’s a bit stupid. The game’s clearly “good”. I thought Microsoft was all about “broadening the demographic”?

In my opinion it’s where Microsoft will lose this gen. Sony and Nintendo have slick marketing / hype machines, Microsoft do not.

I’m actually a bit shocked. I haven’t seen a single advert.

Unless MS is hammering the kiddy channels for it… but I sincerely doubt that.

There must have been a marketing budget, innit. To be fair, I do spend the only time I’m not with my wife writing games news on the internet, so I could have easily missed it.

Psychotext!?
“Sony and Nintendo have slick marketing / hype machines, Microsoft do not.”
What the feck!?
Microsoft are the ones who ahve the hype machines, Sony sucks at marketing. LittleBigPlanet has been the advertisisng success fr Sony, and I still haven’t seen an advert for it.

In Denmark, there’s a Guitar Hero Aerosmith ad on telly that only says Playstation 3 at the end. As though the game isn’t even out on 360.
In fact, the 360 is £150 than the PS3 in Denmark but you wouldnøt know it to look at the POS in shops.

No_PUDding: What are you talking about No_PUD? The game isn’t out until October. Why on earth would you advertise it now? As for no adverts… they’ve already made three custom ones for US retailers.

morriss: Oddly enough, Denmark is one of the few places the 360 does reasonably well in Europe. Imagine what it must be like in other, more Sony focussed Euro countries.
Though right now, Pixeline owns Demark
Quake in fear Nintendo, quake in fear!

Pixeline is just educational PC games for kids. You can get them for about £3 from pretty much any supermarket.

Aye, they’ve been dominating the charts for a while now. It’s pretty cool to see someone other than Nintendo up there.

I really didn’t think of that Psychotext, but you ahve got admit. Microsoft’s advertisisng is ehad and shoudlers above Sony’s.
Thinking about Halo 3
Thinking about Gears of War
Thinking about Bioshock
Sony has sucked.

Any retard can market to an essentially captive audience… pushing shooty games to the 360 fanbase is hardly a difficult task.
Now try pushing your console and some more quirky games to a casual audience – far more challenging, especially when you don’t understand that audience at a company level.

I guess.
I just can’t ever forget quite how awfully Sony interpretted their audience with those hardware adverts, that are STILL airing in the form of F1 sponsors.

Oh I see what you’re saying, but they’re only one small part of the overall marketing machine.

I know, but in England atleast, bearign in mind I don’t watch much TV, Sony advertisisng has been awful.
I remember seeing the GT5 ad, and the Uncharted ad. That’s all.

On the subject of ads… this is still my fave one other than perhaps the PS9 ad:

Can’t believe it was banned.

Why was it banned!? It was great!
I suppose it’s a bit violent, but it’s like everyone is having fun. Reminds me of that standing still thing that they did in New York at Grand Central.

@ Psychotext: That’s the most enlightened comment I’ve read in a looong while.

Yeah I love(d) VP1 and totally forgot VP2 was coming so soon.
Quite sad, really.
I’d like to review in time for next week, actually.

honstly, with how deep a game Viva 1 was, if Viva 2 can at least match it I won’t need a sequel or any DLC for a good long while.
Can’t wait to see what those guys come up with next.
