Rumour: Xbox 360 price cut week of September 7 in US

Joystiq’s carrying what looks to be an ad confirming a “real” Xbox 360 price drop in the US on the week of September 7.

The story says the 60GB model will drop to $299, the Elite $399 – both by $50 – and that the Arcade will drop $80 to $199.

I find these price(cut)s which are separated by HDD-size only ridiculous! Sony and Microsoft should really have just one model available. It’s a console, for god’s sake!

BTW: 60GB of HDD space do not amount to a $100 difference. And offering no HDD at all is not an option nowadays IMO.
