Rock the Vote and Microsoft team up, register to vote on Xbox Live

Thursday, 21st August 2008 21:10 GMT By Mike

Microsoft has announced a partnership with Rock the Vote that will allow US 360 owners to register to vote via Xbox Live.

“If Xbox Live were a state, it would rank as the country’s seventh largest, giving it approximately 20 electoral votes,” said Microsoft citing its 12 million Xbox Live users.

“Xbox is a natural partner to help us reach out to youth voters,” explained Rock the Vote director Heather Smith. “To realize our goal of registering 2 million young Americans by this fall, we need to go where young Americans are, and there’s no doubt in our minds that many are on Xbox 360 and Xbox Live.”

Voter registration will begin for American Xbox Live users on Monday August 25.

You can only REGISTER to vote with it, though. You can’t actually vote.
