Rock Band and Guitar Hero must pay more, says Warner

Warner Music chief executive Edgar Bronfman told Reuters today that rhythm action games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero don’t pay enough royalties.

“The amount being paid to the music industry, even though their games are entirely dependent on the content we own and control, is far too small,” he said. Although he failed to mention any specific numbers, which is a shame.

More through the link, naturally.

Typical of the music industry this. Every time there is an opening to exploit they will take it and abuse it. GH/RB is a great thing for the music industry but I bet warner (those same people that demand a tax on ipods costing you £15 more in case you steal music, which also means if you don’t steal their music you are kinda paying them twice) will try to just ruin it for everyone.
