Siren confirmed for autumn Blu-ray release in Europe
SCEE just confirmed that SCEJ horror Siren: Blood Curse will release on Blu-ray in Europe this autumn, despite previously stonewalling the subject.
The firm’s released no other information aside from the fact you’ll be able to buy the recently released PSN game on disc towards the end of the year. See yourself in the press release after the break.
Can you reverse the Blood Curse?
All 12 terrifying episodes of Siren Blood Curse™ scream their way in to stores this Autumn on Blu-ray Disc™
August 1st, London: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced that in Autumn 2008, the most terrifying and violent of the Siren games to date will be released on Blu-ray Disc™ (BD) for PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™). Siren Blood Curse™ is the blood-curdling follow-up to Forbidden Siren™ and Forbidden Siren 2™ and has so far only been available to purchase as a download on PLAYSTATION®Network. This Autumn, all 12 gut-wrenching episodes of the Japanese Horror Game with exclusive bonus content will be available to purchase on high definition BD.
The chilling events surrounding Siren Blood Curse take place in the Japanese village of Hanuda, a dark, eerie place, frozen in the 1970s and surrounded by a red sea. A TV crew from America arrive to research and film an exposé on the so-called “Vanished Village” where human sacrifices are rumoured to have taken place. You, the visitors, discover an ancient curse has been cast upon the town and it is your quest to save the remaining inhabitants. You are being hunted down by the vicious Shibito (living dead) and other terrifying monsters, and if attacked you’ll be at risk of deforming in to one of these hideously deformed beasts yourself.
Throughout the game you’ll play each of the visitors to the village. The game’s unique Sight-Jack System enables you to switch seamlessly between the visions of the hunted (yourself) and the hunter. Meanwhile blood, guts and gore are super-enhanced by amazing graphic effects, an advanced physics engine and shockingly realistic facial animations.
The introduction of western characters to Siren Blood Curse brings a new dimension to a series inspired by films of the Japanese survival horror genre. Siren Blood Curse blurs the line between game and film, in a truly terrifying gaming experience.Get ready for a purely terrifying gaming experience when Siren Blood Curse™ screams its way in to stores this Autumn 2008 in PAL territories.

I hope that Europe’s North American cousins get the same treatment. I don’t like paying 10 bucks for a silly little PSN game let alone full disc price. If I pay that kind of money, I expect a disc.

Yep, agree. I’m glad I didn’t buy it on PSN now, to be honest.

Even if I wanted to download it I couldn’t thanks to the great laws we have over here.

Is it banned in Germany?

No, it’s R18 but since there has never even been a game on the store that has been rated 16 or higher I doubt ir will ever appear here.
Which is a bit silly since you have to be over 18 to make an account in the first place.

That’s so daft. Disc it is, then.

I want to play this a lot, but giving up a chunk of drive that they were asking for, proved to be a bit of a stumbling block. I’m glad it’ll now be available on BluRay, so that’s no longer going to be a concern – oh, and it looks they’re including some bonus content, too. Which is nice.

Full disc price? It’s £19.99 on PSN, which is cheaper than your average full-price game.
I wonder if this is a reaction to poor sales? Sony was adamant that it was going to be download-only. I imagine that the delivery method was a case of testing the water for future large titles, and that a Blu-Ray was tentatively planned if it wasn’t a big success as DLC.
Anyway, it’s great, and well worth downloading, if you ask me.

Great!
I generally don’t like digitally distributed games. I want disks!
NOW I will definitely buy a copy of “Siren”.
