Capcom’s Christian Svensson’s well aware that the PC version of Devil May Cry 4′s being torrented. We know. Because he said so on Capcom’s blog.

“I’m not sure about how Capcom in general feels, but [DMC4 PC is] not doing as well as I would like in the US at retail,” he said.

“It’s such a good version and it really deserves better sales. I know it’s getting pirated to hell and back (it was up on torrents literally the day it shipped).”

More through the link, including the possibility of online delivery for future Capcom PC releases.

unfortunately the majority of devil may cry fans are little shites so it should come as no surprise that they’d pirate it

capcom should have sold it on Steam

The fact that it’s essentially a console game coming out six months after the console versions most likely has far more of a sales impact to be honest.

The game is good and the PC conversion is great, possibly the best console to PC conversion made, but I think the problem here was there there is virtually no copy protection at all, not even a CD key. The only one is the age old disc check which I assume can be bypassed fairly easily these days. It’s a shame really as Capcom did a really great job on the game.
