Schafer: “Brutal Legend is fine”
Following yesterday’s news that Activision has dumped a good part of the Sierra portfolio as part of its merger with Blizzard, Double Fine’s Tim Schafer has moved to allay fear that Brutal Legend has been canned by posting on the company’s message board that the game is still in the works.
“Brutal Legend is fine,” said the developer according to this Edge piece, which unfortunately doesn’t provide a link.
The game is believed to have been put out to tender along with Ghostbusters and others, but will not be published by Activision.

I pray this one lands in safe hands. Tim Schafer is awesome, and he deserves some actual recognition this time around.

Now there’s a relief. Now how about showing us what you’ve been doing, Tim? It’s been ages.

Thanks God! I was really, really depressed about that yesterday. Rather pissed, actually. I love Schafer, man. That guy has made two of my favorite games ever (Grim Fandango and Psychonauts). He really deserves much more credit. If only people would buy his games instead of Spyro 3: This Time Its Personal, then we would get better games.
