Schafer: "Brutal Legend is fine"

Following yesterday's news that Activision has dumped a good part of the Sierra portfolio as part of its merger with Blizzard, Double Fine's Tim Schafer has moved to allay fear that Brutal Legend has been canned by posting on the company's message board that the game is still in the works.

"Brutal Legend is fine," said the developer according to this Edge piece, which unfortunately doesn't provide a link.

The game is believed to have been put out to tender along with Ghostbusters and others, but will not be published by Activision.

After garnering experience on countless gaming magazines, he joined Eurogamer and later split from that brand to create VG247, putting the site on the map with fast, 24-hour a day coverage, and assembling the site's earliest editorial teams. He retired from VG247, and the games industry, in 2017.
