Yeah, but the thing is – this’ll probably go on to sell a mediocre number of units at retail, regardless of critical acclaim. The specialist media are excited because it’s finally something they can relate to. The few people still clinging to the Wii as a proper, traditional gaming machine are no doubt over the moon. The vast majority of the Wii user-base will shrug and pick up Clipping Your Nose Hair Trainer.

Nintendo and everyone are claiming “You can’t think of the Wii as one of those OTHER machines, we’re new, we’re different, we’ll take you places. LOVE US”

And the moment a game comes along that goes against everything that the Wii is meant to be about and says “Hay guyz. We can do pwetty grafix and games like them other guyz. LOVE US” people go spazzo over it.

The whole perception of this is that its good for a Wii game is bollocks. It’s a game in 2008. It looks pretty average for a game in 2008. I don’t think bonus points should be awarded just because it runs on a modified Gamecube.

Of course, what they fail to mention is that it was the only Wii “game” at E3.
