It's hard to decide whether they did the right thing or not, tbh. If they'd kept the PS3 on ice and stuck with the PS2, they could've milked that for another couple of years and introduced the PS3 at a cheaper price point in a more finished state. But by then the 360 would probably have cleaned up, and the HD disc format war would have been far from a dead cert - HD-DVD would've probably won it. I think they did what they had to do, despite it being a poor choice on many fronts. That price point was a fucking disaster, though. Quite what they were thinking, I have no idea.
