Watchmen to get episodic game
According to this Variety report, Warner Bros is to make an episodic game based on the Watchmen comic.
The title will be released in “at least” two episodes, with the first releasing next March alongside the Watchmen movie launch and the second hitting with the DVD later in 2009.
It’s being made by Deadline Games for PC, PS3 and 360.

Adore Watchmen. After last week’s movie trailer release I’m almost hopeful that they can do something decent with a film version so long as they don’t try to cover too much stuff from the source material.
A game? Hmm. It honestly never occured to me. I have my doubts as to what could be done that doesn’t cheapen what Watchmen is. If it’s Warner then there’s a good chance it could be Lego Watchmen. Hmm. I’d rather not.
By the way, your image is crooked.

I’ve never read the comic, despite people constantly telling me it’s essential. I probably should.

Watchmen is to comics what Citizen Kane is to movies. I re-read it every year and STILL spot more layers of detail each time.

I’ll buy it, then.
I just played through the Too Human demo. It’s really not that bad.

I so want this to work. If the game or movie can do Moore’s comic justice it’ll be a minor miracle. Miracle’s do happen, right?
Highly recommended reading, but don’t get yourself too built up about it, like all things , go in with low expectations, but prepare to be at least amazed by the story telling ability of the writer.
Then read League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and any other work bearing Moore’s name!

I had no idea the trailer was out, so I went and watched it last night and…. wow! I was so sure they were going to fuck that movie up, and… maybe they won’t? I must dig out my copy and read it again.
I’m not sure I can imagine Rorschach and co. making for a good game, though.

Watchmen is horribly overrated. It’s not as good as either V For Vendetta or Miracleman. It’s long, rambling and strays into boring tangents.
Moore is much more focussed in his earlier work with Warrior and 2000 AD and his later stuff with WildStorm and ABC. It *is* an essential read, but it’s far from the greatest comic series ever. As I said, I reckon that honour goes to either V For Vendetta or Miracleman.

I enjoyed V, obviously. Bollocks, I have to read Watchmen now.
