Rev: NPD estimate WalMart sales... it's possible to be very, very accurate statistically when you have 80% of the market providing you figures.

...and yes, VGC do get shipped figures quarterly.

@Psychotext, maybe not the equivalent of NPD (which itself is crap: no WalMart and many other major sellers), but they get the quarterly manufacturer figures.

Yeah... but the problem is that because Euro data isn't released to the public they've never been able to go back and fix their guesstimations.

I know there is little faith in the accuracy of the numbers, but one point is always forgotten: the methdology is identical for all consoles. Consequently, while VGC does not have accurate sales figures per se, it will still show the relation between consoles and the trend in sales.

Plus, one of the main criticisms of VGC is that they change their figures retrospectively, usually after the official announcements. So, their historical data is much more reliable than their data for the past month or two, and closer to the truth. Look at the trend of that graph. Probably closer to the truth than most critics of VGC are willing to admit.

Yes... vgchartzlol etc.

That said, there was about a million between them a little while ago (a month maybe?) so it's probably getting close now.
