Fable II main story 12 hours long

fable25.jpg

Joystiq reckons it heard several Lionhead staffers say that the main quest in Fable II will be around 12 hours long.

They do stress, however, that that’s just the main story, not the sum total of every side quest and all the other stuff we’re looking forward to doing. Like working out ways to kill our friends’ wives, and things of that nature.

An RPG? 12 hours long? Fail? … Scratch that last question mark…

I constantly think about killing my friends’ wives. Completely normal to think about killing your friends’ wives. Right, morriss?

Gekidami: You can finish Mass Effect in under 10 hours if you wanted to. Doesn’t really mean you would. Fallout 1 and 2 could both be done in a stupidly short amount of time too.

True… But then i also consider Mass Effect to have failed as an RPG, it was a very nice shooter… Never played Fallout 1 & 2, though i would have exspected them to be longer from their rep. ..

That’s the thing, they were. Didn’t stop you blasting through the main story in no time if you wanted to. If you knew what you were doing you could finish Fallout 1 in under half an hour. :D

12 hours sounds quite short whichever way you spin it. There’d better be plenty of side-quests or a decent amount difference in a ‘do it differently’ replay.

Well Fable 1′s main strength was that you could play it in two completely different ways and the world would act accordingly. Hopefully Fable 2 will have more shades of grey.

I’ve not played Fable. Is it still all right? I could get it from game for 50pee and play it on the 360.

marmite game.

Don’t think “PC RPG” when you play and you’ll be fine. It’s limited and linear in places, but is very charming and atmospheric.

I wouldn’t think “PC RPG” when I was playing anyway, lest I fall asleep.

I only mention it becaue most of the people who give it stick are RPG fans in the traditional, PC sense.

There’s a big world to explore but you’re stuck on paths, if that makes sense? You can’t wander past a field, jump over the fence and look around.

Although they’ve remedied that for Fable 2 apparently.

Anyway, for 50p you’ve got nothing to lose.

Well, I could buy a chocolate flapjack instead.

I haven’t played it since it came out but I seem to remember Fable having pretty decent combat; especially the archery.

epic_wanderer: Saw some combat vids for Fable 2 yesterday. Looked much better than expected given my concerns about this “one button” stuff.
