Geometry Wars 2 for August 6, four-player included

Joystiq has the scoop on Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, the true, Bizarre-developed sequel to the original Geometry Wars.

The game will release for XBLA on August 6. Along with a “remixed” version of the original game, Retro Evolved 2 features five brand new modes in which to splatter your pixelated foes. They are: Waves, Pacifism, King, Deadline, and Sequence, with each mode allowing for up to four players in local multiplayer.

Additionally, the game features an interesting take on co-op, wherein one player maneuvers while the other fires or sparks or whatever it is Geometry Wars ships do.

No price has been announced for the game yet, but with its launch rapidly approach, we imagine we’ll know, well, within three weeks.
