Update: It’s real. Check out these movies on Wii Fanboy. Thanks, FidoDido1980.
A “source” has just shunted in the direction of Wii jOG, a motion-sensing controller that mirrors your steps on-screen.
As you can see from this Play.com page:
Wii jOG is the innovative motion-sensing controller that brings a whole new dimension to your living room gaming experience. With jOG your character only moves when you do. Plug jOG into your existing console and wow! jOG measures the steps you take and translates them to movement on screen! Now, when you move in the real-world, you really move in the game!
Aside from this listing we have no other details right now, More later this week, hopefully.

Got to be third-party, surely? Wouldn’t the balance board allow you to do that already?

Sounds like a pedometer - which you can already use a Wiimote for as demonstrated by WiiFit.

To me it sounds like the Nintendo ON from a few years back:

No idea what it is. I have a sneaking suspicion we’re going to find out very soon.

Wow that looks like it will add all new levels of frustration to any number of games.

The Americans will never go for this.

Neither will the Brits, they’ll just just get Wii Knife and stab everyone to death, or they should bring out Wii Brain… oh the brits already have that. Americans aren’t fat, so next time think. I think it’s a great Idea anyway.
