My favourite system in the whole world, the Xbox 360, is doing much better than usual and I thank Microsoft for paying me for pointing that out.

As Psychotext says really, what Sony need is PSThree and I dare say the next Final Fantasy game will have a good impact.

You only have to look at PSP to see what works in Japan (aside from being portable) a slimmer re-design coupled with a few must have titles (Monster Hunter and FF), bundle it all together at a slightly cheaper price and you're onto a winner.

It's rarely any one thing that holds back sales.

PS3 slim has got to be a while off yet though, hasn't it? I'd expect it to be far more likely that they'll just tinker with the internal parts to make cost savings and save up a new "slim" version for a couple of years' time.

The only thing that would make me think again on that is if Sony really think the size of the PS3 is holding back its Japanese sales... who knows, maybe that is the case...?

People were putting way too much faith in the ability of a single game to change the way things are going over there. Long term increased sales come from new hardware revisions and price cuts.

I'm sure Sony know this and are beavering away on the PS3 slim.
