According to this PS3F story, Soul Calibur IV mandatory PS3 install is going to cost you 2.85Gb of hard drive space.
Saves weigh in t 2Mb each, apparently. That’s not so bad, is it? Not for a fighting game that looks so stupidly good. Not in our book.

On the code we’ve got the instal seems to be entirely optional (as with, say, PES 2008).

TimClark: Good news if optional.

2.8 isn’t too bad at all.
I am getting rather sick of the 5gb installs though. I don’t give a monkey’s about the initial wait, but I’ve got close to 25 PS3 games now, my 60gb is nearly full!

Tim: Cheers. I’m going to do a story on that saying “UK code”. Won’t mention any specifics.

Cheers for that, Tim.

all you have to do is spend $100 to get a 360gig hard drive and your good to go for the ps3

dani203: Upgrading a £300 console isn’t the most attractive prospect in the world… especially when there are devs getting more out of the hardware without needing to install.

Sell your Wii, and you’ll be all set.

Nooo… what will I do without waggle?

Thank feck for the optional. Namco have traditionally been excellent at optimising the production discs for quick and fluid gameplay – particularly with beat’em ups. See examples right back to Tekken on PSOne. So if they couldn’t use the Blu-ray drive successfully there wasn’t much hope for anyone else.
