Cutscene looks nice. In game stuff is old though.

I think the initial grassy bit is kind of new.

Looking nice, particularly like the hoards of zombie blokes coming down the street at you – very Doom when it was good. Still quite teary but a little way off yet.

Sadly they missed on correcting the biggest flaws of the first game… Generic Identity and Gameplay. The game still has that been there done that feel. It looks graphically solid but not much of anything else.

Lots of new footage there for me at least. I’m getting increasingly psyched for this game because of their Cloverfield-like ARG tactics!

Your way of drawing conclusions from what we have seen of the game until now amazes me!
Anyways, I don’t think it looks very graphically solid yet. Seems like they still have a lot of texturepolishing, lighting and general effects to add still.

mort – I have to admit, I’m with you. It’s not really doing it for me. I haven’t played the first one though, so maybe that’s it.

First one had good multiplayer… not so good singleplayer.

I have not closed the book on the game if that is what you are getting at. I draw my own conclusions from final releases. But quite honestly if it featured vastly improved mechanics and/or different game play, they would have been shown already, yes, even in the sneak peaks.

I am not hopeful of anything with Resistance 2, but it would be nice if they surprised me with something…fresh.

I think gears 2 looks better graphics wise.

reask – Yeah, no question. Gears 2 has to be one of the best looking console games in development. Looks stunning.

Insomniac are still holding a lot back though. We haven’t really seen the new Chimera, or these huge bosses they keep showing us snippets of.

I had lots of fun with the first Resistance, but I’d be the first to admit it wasn’t anything spectacular. That’s not to demean it, I’ve played better games that have entertained me far less (if that makes any sense to anyone lol) and the weapon set was great.

I do hope Insomniac mix it up a bit this time out though, there really was little else to it than point and shoot.

I really need to play the first one. Bad Pat. Will sort that out next week, I think.

Pat, your ‘to play’ list is even longer than Blerk’s.

I’m pretty sure Bourne is the only game Pat’s actually played in the last five years.

Gears Co-Op too.. But yeah, that’s about it I reckon.

When you do play Resistance 1 try to make it past the first few levels – which are fairly dull – the middle to late game is a hell of a lot better IMO.

It’s a very solid game with good fluid gameplay and great controls. That in itself puts it in the top 20% of FPS’s. Most manage to cock those elements up. It also has a really nice story to it which is nicely told in hand drawn pics with well written voice overs.
