Shuhei Yoshida on Home: We hope it’ll be ready for Christmas

The “new Phil Harrison,” Sony WWS boss Shuhei Yoshida, has said in this ThreeSpeech interview that Home’s current autumn launch is looking “positive”.

“We certainly hope so,” he said when asked if the PS3 online freebie will be ready in time for Christmas. “Every indication is positive.”

He added: “With the timing of the launch, we’ve always set target dates, such as the end of last year or spring of this year, but our problem is always implementing features, testing with beta users, getting feedback and making modifications. When we become confident that it is good enough to make it available to all users, that would be the right time. We have been making good progress, but recently, we have been thinking that this fall is the timing we will work towards.”

There’s loads more through there.

I wonder if Sony will be a bit more careful about what they announce at this year’s E3? The ‘wow’ factor tends to die off a little once you’ve stretched ‘it’s coming soon!’ over a year.

I reckon they’ll have at least one proper knock-out game. A real pant-shitter that’s never been shown. And I reckon they’ll show the FFXIII trailer in the conference.

As regards Home, I really don’t know. I think it’ll probably just be, “Here it is, it’s nearly there, you’ll be using it it October,” or something along those lines.

God of War 3 would seem to be their best bit for a soiled trouser moment. But again, there’s that whole “oh yeah, and it’ll be about 18 months before it’s done” thing. God of War titles take bloody ages to get finished and on the shelves.

I reckon either the Ueda game or Tears of Blood would do it. Either would be awesome.

Oh, do you mean this “Tears of Blood”, pat? http://forums.gametrailers.com/showthread.php?s=2269880a3155102fa7d06e1c7e4bc1f8&t=303365&page=1

That seems fantastic. That would floor people, from the look of it! :D It seems like great fun.

That’s the fella, yeah. There was a lot of talk of it making GDC. Apparently it’s the game the BBC saw earlier this year, and it properly blew them away.
