New look, high-detail RuneScape shown off
Jagex has shown a video of stupidly popular browser MMO Runescape running in an all-new high detail, full-screen version. After the break.
The update is currently in beta and isn’t dated as yet.
More than 130 million people have played the fantasy game since it launched in 1999.

Not exactly stunning but it is an improvement.

I played it years ago. It was written in Java, I wonder if the new one is as well?

No idea, I’m afraid. I was quite surprised at how good this looked, considering it’s a browser game.

It is still Java. And it’s not a new game, it’s just a graphical rejig of the same old game.

I played it for a bit about 6 years ago. It’s a great MMO that has some nice touches.
The crafting side of things is quite extensive and intuitive so you could discover stuff like cooking recipes for yourself. Not sure what has been changed since except for the major change to the economy, not allowing unbalanced transactions and having item market values change due to their availability.

I might try it when I get a chance. Be silly not to, really.
