Sony takes a jab at Xbox Live’s new delisting policy
In an interview with Next-Gen, Sony ‘s Eric Lempel found time to criticise Microsoft’s newly-formed policy of dropping old and unpopular Xbox Live Arcade titles.
“While naturally we only want to keep quality titles on the network we do have room for a lot of them,” he noted. “I think if I look over at the competitors’ UI they may have some issues just displaying content, and scrolling up and down lists isn’t the easiest way to find things.”
In addition, Lempel reiterated Sony’s promise that PSN will never charge a subscription fee, come hell or high game prices. But then, he didn’t even mention Qore.
Hit the link for the full interview. There’s a lot in there on the Firmware 2.40 release, so it’s well worth a read.

Microsoft ditch stuff after it’s been released, Sony ditch stuff before it’s even finished. Swings and roundabouts.

If Sony ditched old and unpopular PSN titles they wouldn’t have a back catalogue.

They’re quite right to have a pop at the delisting policy – which seems to exist purely to weed out crap from XBLA to substitute with even more crap.
I review a lot of these titles, and have to say that 800 points is the problem. Hardly any of the titles that go for that amount are worth 1.99 let alone nearly 7 quid. Soul Calibur 1 would warrant a price tag like that but something as badly put together as the recent Happy Tree Friends game? Fack orf!!
PSN aren’t saints either, how the feckin hell did Rocketmen get through the selection process!

PSN is the online service for which Sony say they will never charge; Qore is store content.

pjmaybe: I’m quite surprised they aren’t forcing the crappier titles to the 400 point price tag. Some of the tat they try to sell for 800 points is unbelievable.
Sure, £5 isn’t a lot of money, but it’s far too much for Frogger 2!
