Too Human: “The worst game I’ve played in the last five years”
Oh diggedy dear. Following yesterday’s Wired revelation that Silicon Knights action-RPG Too Human was a meagre ten hours long, a poster on the Eurogamer forum, who also claims to have finished the game, has issued a withering broadside, claiming it’s, essentially, terrible.
“This has to be the worst game I’ve played in the last five years,” said EG poster pirotic. “The NDA is against my human rights after the amount of mental anguish having to play this POS has caused me, so I’m going to speak out and warn you all to cancel pre-orders while you still can.
“Seriously, finished it in two sittings. Two sittings of repetitive combat, painful story and graphics which wouldn’t of looked out of place on a last-gen machine. And don’t get me started on the animations, which I can only describe as being done by somebody reading a copy of ‘keyframe for dummies!’
“Silicon Knights… what happened? I really don’t have the words to describe how bad this game is in almost every area.”
No words being minced there. The game’s out on August 29.

Not at all.
I hope it does turn out alright (not that I think Piro is messing).
I just remember that little heart-warming story about the cold arm and having the grit and determination to stick at something even though it seems a hopeless cause.
I hoped the story would have a better ending than
‘then release the steaming pile of rubbish anyway’.

Here’s Kotaku’s hands-on, btw. Not much there to prevent Dennis crying into his tea, tbh.

What kind of a joke website is this? Posting random forum posts as news? Brilliant.
I have a nice collection of forum post myself, would you perhaps be interested in publishing some of them? I can even pretend I already played Too Human, NDAs be damned.

Forum post isn’t “random”. Just because you don’t know who it is, doesn’t mean we don’t know.

Not particularly surprised to see this. It’s a shame though… as is any bad game. =/

But they did Eternal Darkness, one of the best games EVAR! This news makes me die a little inside.
Instead of a sequel to this can we have ED2 please?

It’s Denis, not Dennis, and no, I’m not him. You should know by now that the man has enough balls to use his own name on the internet.
“Just because you don’t know who it is, doesn’t mean we don’t know.”
Right, so who is this person that’s willingly breaking an NDA then and where’s the proof that he’s played the game? Not that it would give much more weight to his personal opinion (because that’s all it is), but you should be aware that publishing an article that takes a seemingly random forum post as a source makes you look ridiculous.

@insane_cobra:
I think you’re entirely justified in forming your own opinion as to the credibility (or otherwise) of the original forum post. Fair enough.
Thing is, the author of the story knows (or at least knows the background of) the original forum poster – as do I, for what it’s worth – and believes it has credibility. If it was some random poster, I’m pretty sure this story wouldn’t have been posted, but it’s not. The forum poster is a known, reliable source.
The fact that the author of this article believes the forum post is credible might lead people reading this article to believe it’s credible too, but as I say, everyone can make their own minds up.

That’s completely fine, but it’s not obvious from the news post itself. One has to read the comments (even worse, post in the comments) to find out that, hey, that person might actually have some credibility.

@ Killerbee
So, who is it then? A games journalist?

Worse that that. If you told him you’d have to kill him, then yourself.

It’s not so much who it is; more the reputation the poster has amongst long-term Eurogamer forumites like myself. When you’ve been posting somewhere for about 6 years you get to know some of the other regulars (even if you’ve never met them) and you know whose judgement is reliable and whose isn’t.

Why do people keep spelling Dyack’s first name with a D instead of a P?
Looks shit, and now we’ve got the confirmation that, like all games stuck in development hell for long periods of time – it is shit

Oh that’s all right then. As long as this place doesn’t descend into the circle-jerk of regular posters like Eurogamer…oh…

The August 29th release date doesn’t really smack of world-beating potential, does it? What a shame, Blood Omen, Legacy of Kain was an absoluter corker and I genuinely thought this was going to be its spiritual sequel.

I agree with Cobra.
Taking a forum post and running it as headline news is bottom-of-the-barrel stuff.
It’s quite appalling that this story is so keen to ‘out’ this game in some rush of “we’re first with the news” flurry but chooses not to be so forthcoming with the details of the source of the information. Very inconsistent standards. This is all becoming far too much of a club where the members are giggling amongst themselves and boasting that they’ve got a secret as much as anything else. I’ve no problem with this site being associated with Eurogamer – but the giggling pride it demonstrates is cheapening the overall tone.
I was one of the first to congratulate Pat and co for their efforts here but it’s becoming like some bizzare lovechild of Kotaku & Clueless. That’s not a good look.
I *still* want this game to be good

Was VG24/7 about when Rod broke the news that GTA ran like a piece of shit?
Why did that not merit a news post?
Right right GTA. Gotcha.

This doesn’t merit a news post, it’s just some stupid asshole that think has his opinion stuck up his ass thinking his opinion actually matters/wants some attention just like all the other Too Human bashers.
