Blizzard Invitational: The final link round-up

It was the event that kept on giving. Not content with making what has to go down as the most exciting live reveal in videogames history in Diablo III, the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in Paris this weekend continued to show tons of information on StarCraft II, WoW: Wrath of the Lich King and people getting their faces painted so they look like murlocs. It had it all. Hit this for all our coverage both live from the first day of the show and afterwards, and see below for everything that happened overnight.

That was fortunate for Joystiq to have covered the D3 panel that I missed. :)

Most of those Q&A questions showed up again in later panels, too, but I’m most pleased that things that weren’t the most smooth-running mechanics in D2 have been addressed and replaced for 3. No more lugging belts of potions about everywhere, finding you’ve run out mid-dungeon, and having to port back to restock. Another BIG plus is the way communication will be handled, more like a conversation. I like the way that they are really trying to include the player in everything that’s going on – it was true that last time, some times, your “hero” felt more like an errand runner, than what its title suggests.

After this weekend, I can honestly say that Diablo III is my most wanted game in development. Bar none.

Isn’t it a bit on the shallow side?

I think Left4Dead is more likely to nail the PC online co-op action genre.

I don’t think it will be, nup. It sounded like isometric, offline/co-op WoW with angels and devils, revamped inventory and a billion other things. I nearly fainted.
