“True generation” quality only on PS3, says Hirai
Speaking at the PlayStation Business Review in Tokyo yesterday, Sony boss Kaz Hirai said that PS3 was the only machine capable of delivering “true generation” games.
“As PlayStation 3 approaches the second anniversary of its release, the release of PS3 software titles with the true generation quality only available on PS3 is accelerating,” he said, pointing out MGS4 as an example.
The launch period hadn’t been easy, said Hirai, but fical 2008′s plan would see the console through.
“By refocusing the positioning of PS3 first and foremost as a gaming platform, we were able to bring an attractive title lineup and achieve a sufficient number of PS3 sales as expected in the fiscal year 2007 holiday season,” he added.
Thanks, Kotaku.

Did he miss a ‘next’ out there?
Anyway, for a company ‘refocusing the positioning of the PS3 first and foremost as a gaming platform’ they didn’t half announce a fuck-load of non-gaming crap yesterday. And no games, as far as I can tell.

YaY, more rubbish spouting from a Sony rep again. I wonder how many new buzzwords they can come up with this year.
And if the PS3 is the only platform that can deliver ‘True Generation’? (sic) games, then why do they have to be ‘dumbed’ down after being developed on the PC?
Makes you wonder sometimes.

The bit about a “sufficient number of PS3 sales” sounds a little defeatist. “Yeah, we sold enough. Just.”
Is “true generation” just a dodgy translation or was it in english?

I so love buzzword bingo. I play it at university regularly
Anyway, I wonder why people still give interviews under influence of alcohol.
