No more speculation. Speaking at Paris GDC, Rob Pardo’s admitted that there’s going to be some kind of proper game announcement at the Blizzard Invitational in Paris this weekend.
“So you want me to announce the game before our announcement?” he said. “No offense, but I think there’s like 300 people here, and I’ll be ripped apart by 8000 people there [at the Invitational] if I pre-announce it – but it’s going to be really exciting. I think everybody here will be really excited about the announcement.”

I really hope so. The theories about what the clues on the Blizzard splash page meant were ruled out by the update last night, so it’s anyone’s guess now.

Unless they’ve somehow redone the whole thing and set it in the Starcraft universe.

I think I’d laugh my bollocks off if Blizzard turned round and said “It’s Starcraft: Ghost! We’re going to do it again!”

Diablo II was the most played game online for many years. I know plenty of people that still play it on Battle.Net. It was a very important game for any number of reasons.
