New hi-res Killzone 2 shots released

killzone214.jpg

There are four new hi-res screens of Killzone 2 on TalkPlayStation. Looking really nice, although they’re not from gameplay. We’ve put them after the link as well, in case they get pulled.

I’m sure someone, somewhere is “really pumped” about these. They might even be punching the air and saying something like “fuck, yeah!”. I can’t see anyone doing so, though. Not from here, anyway.

It’s going to be a big seller, no doubt. I’ll play it. Not sure I’ll get naked over it, though.

I wonder how many Ps this one will end up rendering at. Fancy a sweepstake. I’m guessing 615p.

I’ll go for 640p.

Hmmm, suspicious amount of AA on the full size shots.

Can you clarify exactly how much less fun I will have at 615p please Tiger? ;) .

It’s Killzone. You wont be having fun, you’ll just be admiring the graphics. :P

Yeah…

Who cares about HD graphics??

Surely Guerilla should just give the game Gameboy graphics @ 15 fps.

It’s about fun, fun, fun!

They’re in serious trouble then, if it’s anything like the last one.

@ Blerk
No! I liked the first Killzone a lot. Aside from the terrible frame-rate it was a very good game with in interesting story-line. Played it several times with different characters.
And I really wish there were multiple characters in Killzone 2 too.It was such a brilliant idea to give Killzone 1 some replay-value.

I second the notion that the original Killzone is overly savaged by people today. There’s no doubt the the scope of the game was hindered by the host machine, but it has good and varied environments and some very nice balancing. The weapons were good to use and the way you could play as different characters made quite a difference to the gameplay – especially in the closing chapters. You could play it as a run and gun, a snipe-fest, a sneaking game. It was very well put together.

The enemy only had about 2 phrases though and were always giving their position away which didn’t help. Neither did Edge labelling it “Halo killer?” on their first preview which got the hackles of the Xbox fanboys all fired up and created this legacy that still runs today where everyone dismisses the game because that seems to be the popular opinion.

If you play the game rather than read the feedback of the majority of the internet that just go along with the sentiment that “it was no good so I don’t want to play it anyway” you’ll find a pretty decent game in there.

Again, internet mob rules appear to have taken over reality with regards to Killzone.

My pal thought it was quite good, although he only paid a fiver for it. I thought it was bollocks, though. :-D

The reviews of the original Killzone say all that need to be said. Just another barely average FPS.

“they’re not from gameplay”

Whether they’ve been retouched or not is one thing, but they are from the section everyone played through at PlayStation Day.

I never played it, but I know someone who was in the army, stationed overseas for god knows how many years, and when he came back, Killzone was the first game he played, and he was absolutely blown away by it. I don’t think he’d played a game since Alien Trilogy on the PS1. It was pretty interesting to see someones opinion of a game, when they had no preconceptions of how an FPS should be, and nothing to compare it with.
