I mean, Hayter is obviously trying to involve the MGS fans in the process, whether it works or not is besides the point. He is a legend with a sense of humour about himself so I think he is cynical enough to understand the futility of an online petition.

Regardless it wasnt an online petition anyway, he is asking people to get in contact with sony if they want him involved in the project, I think its quite clear that there was a lack of knowledge of who David Hayter is and his previous work in the original article.

Sony couldn’t find anyone better to adapt MGS for the screen than David Hayter. (other than Hideo Kojima and David Hayter working together)

I guess I can see where your coming from. He is Batman, he is going to be John Conner in the new terminator movie. Give the role to someone else.

He asked them to either write or email. Not sign something that no one will ever see.

I do not question Mr. Hayter’s extreme talents as a writer, voice actor, or sexy male model.

Seriously, would you rather have someone who has had something to do with the MGS series and understands the characters? Or some Joe Blow average screenwriter that really doesn’t give a shit about the subject matter just when he is going to get his paycheck?

I think its time for more video game movies to have some of the people that are from the original subject matter involved in the production. Maybe that will have a positive effect on these movies not always sucking. I think we will get a good idea of this when the Max Payne movie is released with Sam Lake (who wrote and started in the first Max Payne game.) writing the screenplay.
