According to this GamesIndustry story, developers are already in possession of the motion-sensing PlayStation pad – unofficially named “The World’s Worst Kept Secret” – and apparently it’s made of pieces which break apart.
The peripheral was supposedly tested in California this year, and we’ve heard heavy hints that the new bit of plastic is indeed real.
No official comment’s been made yet, but the site expects an E3 announcement.

Is it the SIXAXIS?

haha

Are they pieces that are supposed to break off or is it just really poorly made?
patlike said:
From the sound of it it comes as a single thing and clicks apart so you end up with two bits. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t just mean “it’s crap”.

There was a concept Wii controller that worked like that.
patlike said:
This is so true. It couldn’t be truer.
mart said:
Sorry I’m a bit confused. What is this that the SIXAXIS isn’t?
patlike said:
It’s like a Wii-mote, mart. A stick thing with a Nunchuck bit, apparently.
mart said:
Oh right. That’s terrible.

Will this therefore need to have wrist straps hanging from either side of the controller to stop it flying out of ur hand?? If it doesn’t i foresee many more TV screens breaking.
PS. If it does have wrist straps it will look like ass.

Perhaps the lack of wrist straps is a ploy to sell more Bravias?

Conspiracies!

I’m kind of interested to see what they do with this. They’re not going to try and replace the PS3 controller AGAIN are they?

They nicked rumble from Ninty and did pretty well out of it. So maybe this’ll do well.

If it’s like a Wiimote but with no stupid wire between the two bits and actually enough buttons on it in proper places then why not? The Wiimote is a good idea, its silly to ignore good ideas for the sake of not wanting to look like you are copying.
Lets face it the standard PS3 controller is a bit long in the tooth these days and the 360 controller is better in almost every respect (just the shite d-pad holds it back in my opinion).

This cannot possibly be real. Cannot. Possibly. Be. Real.

LMAO… just wow.

I bet it turns into a robot too.

erm. omg.

Couple of straps and you’d have knuckle-duster controllers.

Hmm. Why does he say “if you had an ultrasonic sensor here and here”. I mean, why “if”? Either the device has it (whatever the feck an ultrasonic sensor is) or it doesn’t. Sounds like either a wind-up or a marketing man being told to come up with ideas. It’s silly, whatever it is. Then again, so’s the Wiimote.
Blerk said:
Apparently it’s a really old video done by a third-party controller company to pimp an idea. I didn’t think it could be real, but Sony are so stupid these days I wouldn’t have been surprised if it had been.
Psychotext said:
That just makes it all the more interesting when Sony copy them.
