Spore gets minimum system specs

Wednesday, 11th June 2008 07:12 GMT By Patrick Garratt

According to this Shacknew piece, the minimum hardware specs to run Spore are:

FOR WINDOWS XP

  • 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
  • 512 MB RAM
  • A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
  • At least 6 GB of hard drive space

FOR WINDOWS VISTA

  • 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
  • 768 MB RAM
  • A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
  • At least 6 GB of hard drive space

There’s more gumph through there about supported video cards and the like, should you care. Spore’s Creature Creator ships this month, with the full game hitting in September.

Somehow, Spore feels really “next-gen” to me. Much unlike those wow-look-at-graphics-but-hey-plays-like-FarCry-titles everyone drools about.

Far Cry with the Crysis nanosuit would have been ace, imagine just strangling those irritating mutated apes instead of depleting entire ammoclips on them, or sneaking past them, running past them or just punching them through walls… oh yes, that really would have been a different experience than the original Far Cry I’d say.

Anyway, those system specs of Spore sound good, let’s see how it looks on highest settings though and how it actually plays because I think they’ll have to do one hell of a job making all those subparts deep enough to keep people interested in it for a long while.
