XBLA cull will force focus on quality, says Greenburg
Director of product management, Aaron Greenberg, has also told GamesIndustry.biz that he believes developers will still be willing to experiment, rather than sticking to safe concepts in order to receive a high score and avoid the upcoming XBLA cull.
“I really don’t think we will see that at all, in fact many unique style games typically get stronger reviews because they stand out from the pack,” he said.
“If anything you will see developers take more time, make use of the new additional storage space and focus on game quality now more than ever to ensure the title is well received.”

Focus on quality, my arse. At least half of the best-selling XBLA games are clonky old arcade ports. Must be pretty galling for the devs to spend months finely crafting something unique only to see themselves getting the boot while Frogger and Ninja Turtles surf the success wave.

If it’s about focussing on quality, may I make the following suggestions for titles to cull?
1) Everything
2) Except
3) Rez
4) and
5) Ikaruga
Cheers
