Sega’s just issued on a “no comment” on rumours last week that Shenmue III is to be shown at this year’s E3.
For what it’s worth - and before you all start frothing at the mouth, digging out your Ryu codpieces and waiting for buses for days on end - we would be extremely surprised it this were true.
The original talk about a new version of the game came from a Meristation report, which speculated that a newly-acquired Unreal Engine license by Sega was to create a third Shenmue game.
We have nothing more to add.

Did Sega ever answer your Yakuza 2 questions?

Why don’t they just say ‘no’, then?
@ Blerk - Yakuza 2’s in the process of being localised. I know someone at SOE who told me it was definitely happening.

I know it’s coming out - it was officially announced a few months ago. But we compiled a list of questions for Pat to fire at Sega, and I don’t remember ever seeing any answers.

Pah! Why can’t the games industry do flat out denials properly if it’s the case that it’s not happening.

What ever happened to Shenmue Online?
Wasn’t that supposed to continue the story of the series?

Last I heard it was in development hell. Someone pulled out, they were looking for a replacement, and then it was never heard of again. But I don’t think it was supposed to continue the story.

Hmmmm… The plot thickens, or not.
