No Afrika for Europe, world ends
SCEE’s now decided there is some news on Afrika, telling Eurogamer the game won’t be releasing in Europe.
And that’s it. Can we stop talking about it now?

I’d get angry over the usual screwing of Europe… except, well, I don’t care.

I’d go as far as to say I’m actually glad.

Of course, PS3 games are region-free anyway…

Not caring probably scares Sony more at the minute than getting angry.

Well the fact that i don’t even know what it’s about means i never really was excited about it in the first place.

Somewhat ironic, since strangely enough, Sony actually classes Africa (along with Russia and the Middle East!) as being part of Europe.
So maybe the title of this story should be: ‘No Afrika for Africa’…

Well I’m in the pissed off camp. A beautiful looking game that looked like it would offer a completely unique experience, and we don’t get it.

Given that we hardly knew anything about it it’s difficult to get worked up about a non-release. Of course, if when it finally breaks cover it’s the “bestest game ever” then you are officially allowed to bitch and whine like a forumite.

I had this pegged as an Endless Ocean-esque slightly vacant non-game interactive experience sort of title. All pretty pictures and not much to do.
Ergo I’m not really that bothered by the fact it’s not getting released in Europe. I’m generally all in favour of any excuse to berate Sony for their shoddy treatment of European gamers, but this one just really makes no difference whatsoever to me.
Can we have another story which gives me a good excuse to rant about the fact we still don’t have that 80GB MGS4 bundle over here, please?

Thanks for judging, Blerk. (y)nI really don’t need permission on how I post.
This game was a factor in my decision to buy a PS3. The video looked great and related a quiet, serene atmosphere which I was really looking forward to experience.

morriss: You can still import it… just don’t expect to be able to understand it unless they’ve done English subtitles.

Yeah, it’s just a bit of a blow as I was really looking forward to it. No-one else was, that’s fine, but I bought my PS3 for something different, which this game definitely looks.
Hopefully they’ll get it in the US. That wasn’t confirmed or denied.

How to increase demand of your game: deny it to portion of your customers and then release some ‘special edition’ 6 months later with some extra bugs fixed.
Oooh. Get me. I’m such a cynic.

Shatner: That worked for increasing PS3 demand in Europe… maybe they’re onto something!

I was looking forward to this too morriss. Possible it’ll just be published by someone else? Either way if it is good I’ll import.

“I had this pegged as an Endless Ocean-esque slightly vacant non-game interactive experience sort of title.”
Which is exactly why I *really* want it. I’m hopeful for a US release still.

@ecu: Exactly.
@pat: If it’s driving round, taking pictures of animals, all with fantastic graphics and lovely music, then I don’t care what bracket it comes under.

Just to rub a bit of salt into the wound, here’s a new trailer showing some gameplay (apparently, I’ve not watched it yet):

I wasn’t even watching the HD version, and I thought it was great.
I especially liked the bit where the bloke (that could, all too easily, pass for Jurassic Park’s Alan Grant) was running around in third-person perspective, trying to keep pace with fleeing animals, and how he was climbing trees!
You’d think someone will see a great opportunity in releasing this here, really.
