“No news on Afrika,” says SCEE, as Japanese release date is rumoured
Sony blanked us when we asked for an update on Afrika this week, saying there was nothing to report on the mystery PS3 rhino romp.
“I’m afraid there is no news on the Afrika front at the moment,” a SCEE spokesperson told videogaming247 this week.
The firm may have been telling porkies however, as Play-Asia’s just listed the game as an August 28 release.
What is Afrika? No one knows. It was talked about when PS3 was in its salad days. It has zebras in it. We’ll know more soon, from the sound of it.

It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out. A lot of people on the Eurogamer forum seemed to think it’d been cancelled a while back.

Nothing’s been announced on it at all, apart from the fact it exists. It is listed on SCEE’s PR schedule, which is why we asked, innit.

I’d loe to even see a new screenshot. Looked great about 8 years ago or however long it was.

I’ve been looking forward to it for a while. The exact type of game is still a bit of a mystery AFAIK, but if it’s anything like Endless Ocean, but set in Africa, then it’d be right up my alley. Typically though, it’s following the same Sony PS3 tradition of being announced aeons ago, and becoming vaporware. I fully expect it to eventually come out, looking a shadow of its former self, and being pretty average-to-rubbish. It’s the PS3 way.
