Splinter Cell Conviction “on hold”
Update: Ubisoft’s refused to comment on the story. See here.
Whoops. According to this CVG report, by way of UK mag Xbox 360 World, Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell Conviction has been put on hold and has gone back the the drawing board.
The magazine claims the game may not launch until 2010.
Expect more from Ubidays. Or not, as the case may be. More through the link.

One of my favourite franchises that. Oh well, I hope when it comes, it was worth the wait.

Never got on with Splinter Cell. I really don’t like it. I was hoping this was going to be good and different to the “normal” SC games.

How can you not like dressing up in a scuba-suit, skulking in the shadows and slitting enemies throats from behind?

It’s really hard, really linear and very dull. In my opinion, obviously. It used to drive me insane.

It was kind of obvious that this one was going nowhere fast. At least they had the balls to can it rather than just releasing it and hoping the fanboys didn’t notice it was shit.

Everyone said there was “no game” when they showed it last time. Just Assassin’s Creed crowd stuff and nothing else.

We need to go on a hunting trip together, Pat. I’ll bring the balaclavas and the buoy knives.
Splinter Cell will start to make sense after we’ve been eating grubs for four days with no water.

I bet Microsoft are much angrier than Ubi, actually.

He so is. I’m into it! Munching grubs bring out the real man in me.

I think you need to come too, Blerk, tbh. A few days out in the wild and you’ll be a 360 owner playing Gears of War yelling at people on Live in no time.
Like a real man. I mean, these JRPGs you play are girls games. Everyone knows that.

Wow, it takes 2 whole years to put that much tearing into a game? Who’d have thunk it!

Is there tearing in SC:DA? I don’t remember any, tbh.

Oh, so THAT’s what happened to the other one…?
But you’re right, Microsoft probably won’t be best pleased – although, I imagine they’ve known this for a while, which is why we’ve not heard a peep about this game from anybody for a long time.
