Shacknews has posted all the screens and loads of impressions from last night’s US Konami event on one page. This is a good thing. Head over for shots of:

  • New International Track and Field (DS, Sumo Digital, summer release)
  • Lost in Blue: Shipwrecked! (Wii, Hudson, autumn release)
  • Hellboy: The Science of Evil (PS3, 360, PSP, Krome Studios, June 24 release)
  • Rock Revolution (PS3, 360, Wii, DS, Zoe Mode, HB Studios, October release)
  • Silent Hill: Homecoming (PS3, 360, Double Helix, September release)
  • Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (DS, Konami, autumn release)
  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3, Konami, June 12 release)
  • Metal Gear Online (PS3, Konami, June 12 release)

For the rest of our news from the event – including details of three new DanceDanceRevolution games – hit this.

Oh dear. That Silent Hill preview really doesn’t sound very promising at all. :-(

Not as enthusiastic as it could have been, no.

Bunch of new videos of it on GameTrailers, mostly combat-based:

Combat looks… floaty. None of the weapons actually seem to connect. And there are on-screen prompts and health guages and button-hammering mini-games. Disappointing. :-(

Hmm. I really can’t make my mind up. I just watched them all and it seems OK. I’m not really that up on the other games, so I wouldn’t really know how it compares, tbh. There doesn’t seem to be anything particularly stand-out about it, though.

I think that’s precisely the problem. The fans were hoping/expecting the series to move with the times, not for it just to be a kind of ‘best of the other games in hi-def by some other developer’.

It does pretty much look like the Silent Hill I played 100 years ago. But then, I enjoyed it, so that’s fine. I think you’re right, though: it doesn’t look as though it’s going to be breaking any records.
