MS Gamer’s Day: Gears 2 will be biggest game this Christmas, says Kim
Not content with saying he believes Gears of War 2 is the biggest 360 game due this year, Xbox boss Shane Kim has now gone on the record to say that he believes it’ll be the top 2008 title period.
“[Sony] launched with Resistance and we’ve sold nearly 5 million units of Gears of War 1. I think we won that battle,” he told Eurogamer.
“That’s why I believe it’s going to be the biggest title this holiday. Killzone’s out of the holiday, despite some of the earlier statements that were made. We’ll see what happens with Resistance 2, but we’ve gone head-to-head before. I still feel very confident in the quality [of Gears of War 2].”

I can believe it. I think Microsoft cherish these trophy statements more than any other company and they tend to throw stupid amounts of marketing money to acquire them.
Gears in ’06, Halo in ’07, Gears 2 in ’08.
Microsoft manufactures these juggernauts quite deliberately. These titles don’t get their high profile and status all on their own, Microsoft assures it with marketing spend. They were always going to be positioned this way – even if they were games not worthy of the high profile Microsoft bought for them.

true they probably won’t but quality wise …ok quality wise they’re all going to be awesome but im leaning towards F3 and SFIV as my preference.
also i very much doubt gears2 will stand much of a chance as goty.
marketing hype aside though its all good for gamers

COD4 outsold SMG – In the UK and US at least. That’s just counting the 360 version of the game up against it.
With the 360 and PS3 versions together it utterly demolished it.
