SCEE PlayStation Day: Everything else from the press conference, audio uploading now

Note to self: get bigger battery. You’ll be able to hear the entire press conference from the SCEE PlayStation Day in about 20 minutes. It ran to around 1 hour 20 mins, and we’re afraid our poor old laptop couldn’t handle it. Here’s what happened after it died:

  • MGS 40 Gb bundle confirmed for Europe
  • MotorStorm 2 presentation
  • Mirror’s Edge presentation and news that new trailer will be up on PSN on Thursday
  • News of a GT Academy competition, which is Europe-wide
  • Stuff about sponsorship of the FIFA Interactive World Cup
  • Blu-ray presentation (dull)
  • Stuff about GoView
  • 2.7 million people in the UK own a PSP
  • “Watch this space” on GoView for PS3
  • PS3 as a media server presentation
  • EyeToy Play Hero announcement
  • Pom Pom Party announcement
  • Echochrome section (nothing new)
  • SingStar demo (loads of figures)
  • “Movement” project across Europe, a TV show to find unsigned music talent
  • PlayTV demo – it’s launching in September for 99 euros
  • GoExplore
  • UMD PSP games going to be made available for download via PC Store this summer
  • SCEE’s beaten 4 million PS3 sales target it set at Leipzig, has sold 5 million in Europe
  • 3.2 million have now signed up to European PSN, 57 million pieces of content downloaded

Gah! I connected with dial-up for *this*? Even the MGS bundle is a super rip-off ‘low HDD, no DS3′ bundle. So much for Europe being ‘super important’ to Sony. NO SALE!

That bundle’s a shocker. I should have video of all the games later, but I reckon you’re best off waiting if you’re on dial-up :)

Worse, it’s a 40gb. It’s like, ‘Hey Europe, you want BC back? SCREW YOU!’

Plus, as you might have guessed, no suprise Ico 3 reveal because Sony are dumb and their timing stinks.

80GB, Dual Shock or no dice. Idiots. It’s all our fault for buying the damn thing. If no-one bought it, then they’d give us everything. Sony are laughing at us! (especially me as I bought it on day 1)

Huh. Yesterday I was sure I’d be getting a PS3 when MGS4 came out. Now I won’t be. It really is a joke. Hopefully someone will call them on it and beat some sense into them but I’m not holding my breath.

I’d have to ask them. It’s certainly not out of the question. I’m sure one of the community bods over there wouldn’t mind spending half an hour on it. Depends on whether or not they want to do it as a company. I’ll mail the PR guys and ask. I reckon it’s far more likely to happen is we get some questions together and submit them, rather than attempting to do it live.

If you’re taking suggestions for questions, can I humbly propose “Why did you think announcing a weaker bundle in Europe after announcing the better ones in other territories would be a good idea?” It’s nice to see the system work though. :)
