GTA IV: 360 outsells PS3 on day one in the UK

50k more for £50m, Gotta hurt.

I wonder what hardware the game shifted though.

Wait how see how many people download the extra content for probably 1200MS Points before we start asking whether the £50m was worth it.

I’m amazed so many people still don’t realise that the $50m was a loan.

Is that all the difference is? If PS3 sold 274k copies, then PS3 did well. I expected a thorough thrashing by the 360 version, I thought I’d be about 5:1 to the 360, given the amount of people that own a 360 here, compared to PS3′s relatively small numbers. They’re pretty impressive PS3 figures, actually.

A loan based on sales.

So the PS3 version of GTA4 did better on day one than Halo 3 did for the 360.

We can’t really comment on Microsoft’s value for money yet, though – it’s bound to have done far, far better on 360 in the US than it will have done over here. Would be nice to see full European figures for the game, though. Although we won’t.

Zumi: 5:1 on the 360? The 360 userbase isn’t even double the PS3 userbase in the UK… plus the game is generally seen as a Playstation franchise.

Last time I saw figures, the 360 had sold 2 million units in the UK compared to the PS3 at about 1.1 million, iirc. And the PS3 is outselling the 360 fairly consistently of late, so it’s probably a bit closer now.

Yeah, 5:1 was a bit generous, but it didn’t crush it like I thought it would. I reckon the analysts will be right about it selling more PS3s than 360s.
