European Wii price cuts rumoured

wiigermany.jpg

Jeux-France has rumoured that Nintendo Europe is drop Wii’s price in Europe this Mai.

The site, citing a “source at Nintendo France”, predicts that the machine with Wii Sports with drop to €149, while a Mario Kart Wii bundle will retail for €199.

The Wii Sports pack currently sells for €249 on the Continent, so that’s a fairly healthy drop.

We’ll check this morning, but don’t expect more than “we don’t comment on rumour, blah”.

A 100€ price drop? How much has it dropped in the states due to the dollar dropping like a led balloon?

I’d take this with a pinch of salt, personally.

Why would they drop the price when they’re still selling a gazillion a week?

I expect someone’s put two and two together and thought they need to drop to stay competitive with the new 360 price.

But surely the price doesn’t matter if they’re still kicking the shit out of the 360? Especially in Europe where the 360 is generally the steamy turd of the console industry once you get past Dover?

I’m with MS on this. Leaders don’t react.

Really sceptical here, too. If it’s true Nintendo’s set for world domination, surely?

I’d be very surprised if there was a price cut. A new Mario Kart bundle kind of makes sense though. As would a Wii Fit bundle.

Besides, a price cut at this point isn’t the Nintendo way – surely they have to bring it out in at least five different colours first? ;)

I really doubt this is true. They can’t even meet demand as it is, so why would they try and increase it?

Well, because they obviously could, if they only wanted. :)
