THQ announces Dawn of War II, beta for Soulstorm owners

THQ’s officially announced RTS sequel Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II.

The game’s being developed exclusively for PC and is powered by an enhanced version of Relic’s proprietary Essence Engine 2.0.

And for those of you that bought the recent Soustorm add-on for the original are in for a treat: you’ll be able to get in on the as yet undated multiplayer beta. From the release:

In addition, THQ is pleased to announce that gamers purchasing copies of the recently released Warhammer(R) 40,000(TM): Dawn of War(R) – Soulstorm(TM) will be able to participate in an invitation-only multiplayer beta program for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II set to take place at a future date.

    Although I bought Soulstorm I didn’t realise quite how bored of the original series I had become.

    I’m looking forward to this though. It is about time the 40K universe got a shinier engine.

    I’ve just started playing it, funnily enough. Just for the multiplayer. It’s really good, although I’m shit at it. I like the way it’s old, and can therefore run on anyone’s computer.

    Dawn of War probably is THE RTS of the decade. Everything about it was fantastic. Online play was outstanding. I can’t wait for this one!
