Ubi bringing over 40 games to Steam

Here. Valve must be laughing all the way to the bank. Ubisoft announced today that it’s bringing 40 games to Steam, a deal that makes it the most prolific on the download service.

Assassin’s Creed is already to pre-purchase on Steam, but the new deal will see the Tom Clancy series, the Heroes of Might & Magic series, the IL-2 Sturmovik games and Far Cry added.

How much do Valve make on this you reckon?

I used to know the cut. It’s a far better deal that disc-based retail, I think, but obviously the exposure is far less. I can’t remember, tbh.

Would be interesting to know.

Afaik Steam offers a good protection against piracy. Now that is somewhat redundant in this case since all the games have been released on discs anyway.

The problem with putting up slightly older games is that they are competing with the pre-owned market… actually, that’ll keep the prices down. It’s a good thing!
