I hope it’s of a Wipeout 2097 quality rather than Wipeout Fusion. Hell I’d be happy with 2097 being re-released with some shiny new graphics.

2097 is one of my all-time favourite games. I love that shit, yo.

I downloaded the original for my PS3 to remind myself what it was like in the early days.

In short, it’s still plays superbly but is INCREDIBLY unforgiving. Hitting the sides at all is a real showstopper. I still had the magic though, coming in 2nd in my first race and I remember when I first played it, it took about an hour to even get to grips with the floaty handling.

It kinda encapsulates everything that was good about the Playstation. The great 3-D graphics (stinky pop up and polygon glitching though) and superb choice of music just brought gaming to a completely new generation.

I lost months to 2097. To win at the harder levels you just have to memorise the tracks completely. There’s no other way.

You got into a zone with 2097 on the fastest settings, you don’t notice what you’re doing with the joypad. Ridge Racer Revolution was a bit like that too, the game just took over.
