Game giving MS Points for GTA IV pre-orders
See here. Game’s giving away Microsoft Points and Gamerpics when you pre-order GTA IV for 360. Ever so slight overkill. Were you not going to buy it? Now you really have no excuse.

Whether this action is supported by Microsoft or not (although I can’t see how Game would be giving away Microsoft Points at their own expense for this) it seems the MS are very sensibly looking to ride the GTA wave as long and hard as possible.
I can’t say I blame them, what with GTA’s status being what it is and all, but it’s interesting to see them invest so much of themselves into a multiplatform venture.
No doubt, Microsoft will give themselves much of the credit when GTA sells well on the 360. Which would probably be a bit disengenious of them..

They’ll push it as hard as they can. They spent a fortune on that exclusive DLC, so you can’t really blame them.

So what do you get if you pre-order the PS3 version? MS points?

Absolutely nothing. At all.

A chance to go make dinner while it installs.

I can see Rockstar actually making the install process entertaining, mind. Opening credits for earlier GTA games were usually done quite stylishly. I hope they take the opportunity to do something a little more interesting than a concept art slideshow.

GTA IV’s not a PS3 install, is it?

I don’t think they’ve said one way or the other. I’d be surprised (and perhaps a bit disappointed) if it didn’t chuck something onto the HDD to help with the load times.
