God. Contrary to this, the US Essential Collection version of the original Metal Gear Solid won’t be ported to a PS2 DVD after all. The game originally came on two CDs, and nothing’s going to change for the new pack.
Just to be absolutely sure - this information apparently comes from Konami US PR, but it’ll probably change tomorrow - the set contains four discs: two for MGS1, one for MGS2: Substance, and one for MGS3: Subsistence.
OK? Can we have it in Europe now?

It seemed a bit weird to do a PS2 port when every Playstation in the Universe can still run the PSOne original. It even looks quite nice using the PS2’s ‘texture smoothing’ thing.

I don’t really understand the interest. It’s either on one disc or two, innit. You either change the disc halfway through or not. People are a bit mental about this stuff, I reckon.

Well, there’s also the old “you’ll need a PSOne memory card to play it” thing if it’s the old PSOne version. How many people still have those kicking around?
patlike said:
That is very correct. Although I can’t see how they could release it on PS2 if it didn’t work on PS2, if you see what I mean.

I find it a bit strange they’re not bundling any of the DVD content that comes with the Japa anniversary box, or the DVD docu that came with Sustance. To be honest though, the only thing that makes this box really interesting to me is the artwork. WHICH WE STILL HAVEN’T SEEN by the way, Konami.

I bet they really aren’t going to release it in Europe. Which means I’d have to buy a US PS2 to play it. Which I’m not going to do.

Nooooo, just get a slidey card swappy discy thing for your PAL.

Yeah? You’re a PS ninja. Either that or I’m rubbish at importing games.

I’m not a PS ninja! I’ve only got Katamari Damacy on import. Swap Magic for the win, seriously.
